The Barefoot® saddle is the only treeless saddle that is really flexible in all directions and allows your horse to move in true freedom.

The Barefoot® saddles are designed by Sabine Ullmann, a German equine physiotherapist. During her years working on horses with saddle related back problems, she decided to use her knowledge to create her own range of high quality saddles.

Barefoot® saddles are flexible, soft, very light (about 10 lbs) and adjust to the horse's back in all directions. They are totally flexible and move "with" the horse rather than creating a barrier of a stiff tree. Horses move more relaxed and free because no tree is constricting the shoulder, the Barefoot® pommel moves with the horse. No pressure under the cantle gives relief to short and flat backed horses.

Barefoot® saddles are a close contact saddle. They provide relief to both horse and riders with back issues, and when used on a gaited horse they often help to free up the shoulders, improve the condition of the spine, and improve the horses overall way of going. Another advantage of the Barefoot® Saddle is that it fits a wide variety of horses thus eliminating the need for multiple saddles just to fit each horse.

All saddles are made of high quality, thick, pliable Nubuck leather with soft, off-white fleece underside. Anatomically shaped saddles with excellent wither clearance.

Panels - Each Barefoot® saddle has a thick, molded, pressure absorbing panel on either side of the horse´s spine. These panels create a gullet to guarantee improved spinal clearance. They are also anatomically shaped to the rider´s thighs. The seat is removable and attaches to the saddle base with wide, non-slip Velcro.

Pommel Inset - Removable / exchangeable fiberglass pommel arch (available in several sizes - delivery includes size middle. "Wide" size for EXTREMELY broad horses with no noticeable withers but instead very strong and broad shoulders (the soft inserts made out of wool work well too). "Narrow" size for EXTREMELY narrow horses with prominent withers.

Cantle - All Barefoot® saddles have a higher cantle made of a semi-elastic material, which is anatomically shaped, to horse and rider and therefore enhances the horse´s freedom of motion and encourages engagement of the hindquarters and vertical flexion of the back. For the rider this newly designed cantle provides a deep, softly cushioned and very secure seat. The cantle can also be replaced with some cloth like material to accommodate even the most difficult to fit horses.

Double Stitch - Using a double-stitched stirrup attachment, the invisible construction ribbons spread the weight of the rider standing in the stirrups. Extra wide and flat rings are used and the fender and stirrup leathers come with buckles below to avoid pressure.

Versatile saddle made from Nubuck leather with soft wool fleece under side. The saddle is suitable for dressage, trail and endurance riding. The saddle provides 5 D-rings to attach saddlebags, breastplates and crupper. Can be mounted with Barefoot® fenders or English style stirrup leathers.

The Tahoe Classic is the 'english version' of our regular Tahoe. This model is a great saddle for those who want a comfortable trail saddle and also be able to ride dressage or do flat work in one saddle (and show in it too). The shorter saddle flaps are an advantage for riders with short legs. Seven D-rings still provide many possibilities to attach saddlebags. This saddle model is delivered with a pair of kneerolls, which can be positioned to the rider´s comfort. Can be mounted with Barefoot fenders or English style stirrup leathers.

Anatomically cut treeless dressage saddle in black Soft Leather (brown offered by special order), offers ultimate freedom of movement for the horse and comfort for the rider. In keeping with Barefoot®´s well-known reputation for quality and longevity, the leather on the London saddle has been doubly reinforced in all areas that may carry pressure from the rider (stirrup attachment, saddle flaps and rigging attachment).

NEW! As of now, each Barefoot® saddle has a thick, molded, pressure absorbing panel on either side of the horse´s spine. These panels create a gullet to guarantee improved spinal clearance. They are also anatomically shaped to the rider´s thighs. The interchangeable fiberglass pommel is available in several widths (delivery includes size middle).

The anatomically cut cantle is constructed of thick, flexible foam, to avoid pressure points from the rider and therefore allow superb movement and collection of the horse´s back. For the rider, this foam cantle gives a soft, deep seat. The Barefoot® Dressage Saddle comes with two sets of knee rolls in varying thickness, which can be positioned to the rider´s comfort. Soft fleece underside in black. Five d-rings. The removable seat has a non-slip surface, with broad velcro underside attachment. Weight approximately 10 pounds.

The Barefoot® Arizona is a western saddle with round skirts.This saddle comes with a standard pommel arch. Decorated with silver conchas, feathers and leather straps. To be used with Western girth.

5 D-rings for saddle bags, breastplate/crupper and western rigging with a special anatomical cut. The leather covered pommel arch with horn (NOT DESIGNED FOR ROPING) is made of fiberglass and can be exchanged for an extra wide pommel arch.

These western saddles are made from the finest Brazilian leather with all over tooling. They have 3 D-rings for saddle bags, breastplate/crupper etc. These new models provide the same close contact feel as all of our other Barefoot saddles and offer a distinguished clearance of the spine, thanks to the integrated VPS (vertebrae protection system), which absorbs pressure better than everr. These saddles will come with a wide padded fork and western rigging.

We recommend the Barefoot Nevada with the square skirt for the broad built horse with little withers. This model comes with a wide fork which is designed for this type of horse. The leather covered pommel fork (NOT DESIGNED FOR ROPING) is made of fibreglass and can be exchanged for regular size pommel arch. Since the insert can be replaced through zippers the horn is for decoration only.

The larger surface of the skirt offers the desired hold on round and often slippery backs. To be used with short English girth.

Decorated with conchas, feathers and leather straps, providing a deep seat, 5 D-rings for saddle bags, breastplate/crupper and western rigging with a special anatomical cut.

This round skirt Western style saddle has the beautiful design of the Tahoe. Barefoot® had a lot of requests for a very light weight saddle and this design is the result. The Atlanta is great for short backed and round horses; with the long billets and the use of a short English girth the Atlanta will stay better in place than a saddle with a Western girth. Please note that this saddle requires a 2" - 4" longer girth than with the Tahoe or Cheyenne. Can be used with Western fenders or English stirrup leathers.

English rigging with seven D-rings and leather straps in front and back provide many possibilities to attach saddlebags etc. The decorative horse head and the feathers are made out of a darker brown leather and give the Atlanta a personal touch intensified by the silver conchas.

The Barefoot® Sierra is the Atlanta model with a horn. The Sierra has a more compact skirt than the Arizona and is an excellent choice for short backed horses. This western saddle comes with English rigging and is to be used with a short English girth. Please note that this saddle requires a 2" - 4" longer girth than with the Tahoe or Cheyenne. Decorated with silver conchas, feathers and leather straps.
