Our story in the sport of purebred dogs began over in 1986, when I acquired my first Doberman Pinscher. Mikka will always hold a special place in my heart although he never gained championships or performance titles. We did enjoy training together in obedience and his desire to please and strong bond helped the Doberman Pinscher as a breed to become number one in my heart. Through the years, I've had the pleasure of knowing and working with many Doberman Pinschers as companions, in obedience, and in the show ring. You can learn about our Dobermans from the past and present, on their pages.

In 1996 I began thinking about the addition of a "second breed". As an obedience instructor, I had been challenged by a comment that a student of mine made regarding smaller dogs vs. larger dogs. I decided that I would search for a smaller breed, one that complimented life with Dobermans but also had some unique qualities that differentiated them from my first breed. Having owned a Border Collie mix previously, they quickly were ranked high on my list of possible breeds. One by one, all the other breeds were eliminated for various reasons till Border Collies became my obvious choice. This was due in part to my disovering a breeder who's dogs seemed to embody everything I was looking for in a Border Collie. That began a long three year journey where I waited for just the right puppy from this breeder. During that time I joined the parent club for the breed, and started further studying the breed in general. It was well worth the wait! In June 2000 I met Pikkupaimenen Peppermint Twist at the airport after a long journey here from Finland. She is linebred to the internationally well- known "Cola", Int./Aus./Fin/DK/Est. Ch. BorderFame Sheer Delight *CDX. A good start for the foundation of our Border Collie breeding program!

The story of our dogs doesn't end here. I have worked with other breeds in the show ring and the performance fields including; Bernese Mt Dogs, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Shetland Sheepdogs, Rottweilers, and a German Wirehaired Pointer. Although I no longer handle dogs for other people, I do still train dogs and run competitive obedience and conformation handling classes in addition to behavior consultations. See my "Dog Training" section for more information.
